1. Operator, acceptance & eligibility
Sound Lineage Explorer (the “Service”) is operated by Brok Howard. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Questions can be sent to info@brokhoward.com.
You must be legally able to agree to these terms under the laws where you live. If you are a minor, use the Service only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Third-party services may have their own age and eligibility requirements.
2. Music discovery & historical context
The Service is an interactive music discovery and lineage explorer. It lets you trace an artist’s Roots and Blooms, listen to representative songs, review the evidence behind connections, and explore related albums and artists.
Lineage connections may reflect editorial curation, listener similarity, documented credits, historical relationships, samples, covers, or shared performances. Sources and confidence labels provide context, not proof of influence. Information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or change over time; the Service is not an authoritative historical record or a personalized recommendation engine.
3. Third-party services & content
The Service uses or links to Apple Music and MusicKit, Spotify, Discogs, Bandcamp, MusicBrainz, Wikipedia, Wikidata, Last.fm, Apple Maps, Google Maps, and artist websites. These services are independent of Sound Lineage Explorer and have their own terms, privacy policies, availability, and content rules.
Apple Music authorization is optional and handled through MusicKit. Full-track playback and playlist saving may require your authorization, a compatible device, and an eligible Apple Music subscription. Spotify links open searches; they do not connect a Spotify account. Record purchases, map searches, tickets, and other transactions take place with the third party, not with us.
We do not control external content, prices, inventory, events, or services, and links do not imply endorsement. Music, artwork, artist names, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective rights holders. These terms do not grant ownership or rights to download, redistribute, or commercially exploit that content.
4. Acceptable use
Use the Service lawfully and respect other people’s rights. You must not:
- Infringe intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.
- Attempt unauthorized access, bypass access controls or service limits, or interfere with playback restrictions.
- Introduce malicious code, disrupt the Service, or use automated requests that burden it or its providers.
- Misrepresent your identity or use the Service for unlawful or abusive purposes.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security risks, or legal obligations.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains Apple Music authorization, browser storage, external lookups, and how to contact us about data.
6. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, complete lineage information, or the continued availability of music or third-party services.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Brok Howard will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or lost data, arising from use of or inability to use the Service or reliance on its content.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or takes away mandatory consumer rights. If your jurisdiction does not allow a particular exclusion, it applies only to the extent allowed there.
8. Changes & contact
We may update the Service and these terms. Updated terms will be posted here with a revised effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice. Continued use after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms, to the extent permitted by law.
For questions about these terms, contact Brok Howard at info@brokhoward.com.
